I’m going to title this paragraph “Collision” because there is just no other way to describe it. We were riding through the streets of Cairo on our shockingly gigantic tour bus, when a sharp right turn, nearly missing a group of German tourists ended with a horse and buggy trapped between us and a parked car.

The horse was fine, but the buggy didn’t fair so well. A plethora of onlookers helped cantilever the buggy out from its mangled state between the bus and car. Then the countless armored street police just waived us on. They cited the driver of the car for being parked illegally on the street, and we were on our way.

After that minor-disaster, we regrouped at the hotel, and then headed back out to the streets with just our quick-click personal cameras (since we were still sans paperwork). We took a stroll down the promenade along the river, sipped on espressos and freshly squeezed orange juice in Andalusian Garden, then watched the sun set on a sky-walk bridge over the Nile which split the skyline down two sides. Why yes, of course this is a work trip!

So they don’t really drive with their headlights on in Cairo then!?!?

Already seems like an amazing trip!! I check your blog all the time to see what else you are up to!!
I don’t understand the part about needing a permit to film/photograph. Interesting…

I am sharing your wonderful insights with my classes. When you solve the riddle of the sphynx, do you get to be Queen of Thebes?
